Jon and his tradesmen just finished this project, we couldn’t be happier. We found Kent and Essex Builders through personal recommendation. Jon, the owner, took care of everything from architects, planning permission, building control and even dealt with Thames water on my behalf as the drains needed to be moved, so no hassle there, as I wouldn’t have a clue.
I received updates most evenings regarding who was coming and when. If I had questions regarding the build, jon usually picked up the phone straight away, but if he was busy, he replied within minutes. All Jon’s tradesmen were top notch, also friendly and polite. Nobody let us down. There wasn’t any nasty surprises financially, the price came in exactly as estimated. The quality of the finish is excellent, and nobody has had to come back to rectify any faults. As you can tell, I’m more than happy to recommend Kent and Essex Builders, I can’t think of anything negative to say.

We were searching for a builder capable of handling the entire Kitchen and Bar room refurb of our home and came across Kent & Essex Builders on instagram. We approached Jon who provided us with a very competitive quote. From start to finish communications with Jon & the team were excellent. We did unfortunately incur unforeseen extra costs but Jon worked through all options with us and any decision making was agreed in advanced of the works. Jon recently took on a full refurbishment of our house, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. He brought in excellent contractors who were always on time, tidy, and polite, which made such a difference day to day.
Jon also recommended some great suppliers and even came with us to the bathroom showroom to help choose the right fittings — something we really appreciated. For the kitchen, his team helped design it in 3D so we could see exactly how it would look and make changes until we were completely happy.
As we wanted to stay living in the house during the renovation, Jon planned the work carefully around us and the kids. He helped us rearrange rooms and even supplied heaters when the radiators were out, which showed how thoughtful and considerate he was throughout.
We didn’t have many issues at all during the build. The only unforeseen problem was needing a steel installed over a pipe, but Jon quickly organised the calculations and materials so there were no delays.
Having had a fair amount of building work done in the past, I can honestly say Jon and his team stood out for their professionalism. They made the whole process smooth and stress-free, and we’d happily recommend them to anyone.
